Bulls and Bugs (and angry frogs)

Here we are steaming south towards Bundaberg and scalloping grounds.

First days on the boat have been a learning curve again but it's all good. This is more fun than fishing for mackerel. and the variety of stuff that the trawling nets bring up is much more. Most of it is perfectly safe, all kinds of weird looking fish and stuff. But we also get any number of scorpion fish coming up which is a no touch. and sea snakes. And bunch of other stuff with spines so I need to watch where I stick my hand when sorting out stuff.
Past days we have been getting scallops and Bugs and the latter is one weird looking creature. With back end of a regular lobster and front end of something out of a sci-fi movie. Turning them around and seeing them eating a fish with their legs wrapped around it gives me the creeps.

I have been thinking about what to do after I finish the scalloping season. I think I will not be touring much of Australia. I have few friends here around Christmas so I think I will spend it here, but fairly soon after that I will take my hard earned cash and go find some new adventures somewhere cheaper.

But you never know. I have seen my plans change on a days notice so many times already that I'm not making any promises.

Also, here is links to my Flickr pictures and my earlier texts. The latter will be in finnish from now on.

I end this to a selection of fish. (not edible)

the guy in the front is hard as a rock. In the background something I named the angry frog fish.
A hornfish. Also hard as a rock.
